I’m a huge fan of staycations. As much as I love to jet off to amazing destinations, there’s something super fun and relaxing about playing tourist in your own city. Being in a long distance relationship, Atlanta is my home away from home, and staying at the Hilton Downtown Atlanta was a nice change of scenery for the man and I. We don’t quite share the same passion for international travel, so staycations are the perfect middle ground to keep both of us happy – temporarily 🙂
The Hilton Atlanta recently completed a major renovation, which included a multi-million-dollar re-design with upgraded guest rooms, lobby area, and meeting spaces which honors Atlanta’s aesthetic, culture and history so we were pretty pumped to check it out!
After checking in at the front desk (which was a breeze), we made our way up to our room on the 27th floor (the Executive Level of the hotel). I must say, the room itself was quite nice. However, let me tell ya’ll – the view of the Atlanta skyline from our room was literally breathtaking! Before I even put my bag down, I had my camera out snapping a billion pics of the amazing view! Usually, the man is annoyed by this, but even he agreed that the view was 100% worthy of my zealous picture taking 🙂 There’s just something absolutely spectacular about city lights at night.
More than just a stunning view, the Hilton Atlanta really has luxury and comfort top of mind. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. While the beds and pillows are soft and cozy (super important to me!). In addition to standard hotel amenities, each room features a Hilton Serenity Bed, dual-cup, single-brew coffee maker, complimentary coffee, in-room movies, internet access, a refrigerator (love me an in-room fridge), video check-out and luxurious bathrobes.
One of my biggest annoyances while traveling abroad or for a staycation is a horrible bathroom! Luckily, our bathroom was spacious, comfy and equipped with Peter Thomas Roth bath essentials! This made me extremely happy because I love P.T.R products, especially the Mega-Rich Body Lotion. The lotion has a fantastic scent and goes on super light without being greasy – plus it’s also super moisturizing. I always keep one in my purse when I travel.
Having V.I.P. access to the Executive Level Lounge was our favorite part of this staycation. The lounge is open Monday – Friday, and offers continental breakfast, beverages, light refreshments, and an afternoon snack. We definitely took advantage of the afternoon snacks, plus added wine 🙂 The Executive Lounge is a huge space with lots of comfortable seating areas to work or just chill. It’s also great for business travelers.
The next morning, we got up early so that we could catch breakfast. It was complimentary so we definitely weren’t going to miss out on a free meal! Yes, I’m a true foodie 🙂 Overall, breakfast was solid. With many items to choose from, I decided to indulge on waffles, eggs, sausage, potatoes, yogurt, and fruit. Breakfast made us both so full that we decided to walk it off!
The Hilton Atlanta is connected to a sky bridge that allows you to walk straight from the hotel to Peachtree Street and the Peachtree Mall without going outside (Bonus points!).
On day two, we decided to grab some drinks and dessert at Trader Vic’s – a tropical retreat themed restaurant located on the hotel’s lower level.
The ambiance of this restaurant is truly unforgettable. It has hand-carved tikis, giant blowfish, and palm-thatched ceilings. The food was also reasonably priced. I ordered a cocktail and the infamous banana foster. Let me tell you about the banana foster! It was prepared over a fire, table-side, which was a nice touch. It came with two scoops of ice cream just to increase the deliciousness – and YES, it’s well worth the calories!
Staff and Location:
The staff we encountered were all incredibly friendly. This always makes for such a more pleasant experience. Staff were personable and always eager to answer any and all questions.
Location wise, the Hilton Downtown Atlanta is conveniently located in Downtown Atlanta. It’s a great central location if you’re looking to visit the Georgia Aquarium, CNN Center, the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, or the World of Coca-Cola.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to the Atlanta area.
Until my next visit and staycation…
