6 Plant-based Restaurants in Toronto
The days when dining as a vegan in Toronto meant having to choose between skinny salads or French fries are gone. I do love French fries though. Thanks to a number of new vegan eats, meatless eating has never been so delicious. Here are our top 6 Plant-based Restaurants in Toronto.
PLANTA
In 2016, Planta came on the restaurant scene with the phrase “plant-based”. The Chase Hospitality Group who brought Planta to Toronto seemed to be ahead of the game. Palm-leaf wallpaper lines the walls of Planta beautifully. This upscale vegan eatery has a solid menu of dishes like the planta burger, wood-fired pizzas, and parmesan truffle fries. Torontonians loved Plant so much that the Chase Hospitality Group decided to open a Planta Burger spinoff downtown. Whatever location you choose to visit you’re guaranteed to leave happy.

ROSALINDA
Rosalinda brings vegan Mexican cuisine to downtown Toronto. Rosalinda’s dishes are very fresh and flavorful, and not overly seasoned. If you like a little spice in your life then you’ll love the menu. Dishes like Jackfruit Pibil Taco, Young Coconut Ceviche, and Roasted Cauliflower Tostada leave a lasting impression.

FRESH ON FRONT
Fresh just finished renovations and the space look amazing. I’m sure the renovations were put in the plans because of all the new plant-based eateries popping up. The new space is so much nicer to have dinner with someone without bumping the table beside you. Fresh features a coffee counter stocked with sweets, a fridge full of delicious cold-pressed juices, and kombucha drinks. Fresh has a really large menu. I tend to go back to my favourites, the Mega Life Salad, the Buffalo Cauliflower, the Holiday Wrap and of course their Quinoa Onion Rings.

PARKA FOOD CO.
From food festivals to a restaurant Parka Food Co. takes a minimalist approach. Creatively rolling out an all-white dining room that serves veggie burgers and mac and cheese. Parka Food Co. uses local ingredients to create their eats. The Portobello burger is my go-to, it does not disappoint. The soy-marinade is very flavorful and it is accompanied by onion rings, chipotle aioli and guac. I’m in love!

THRIVE ORGANIC
A restaurant who’s vision is to revolutionize the way people eat and drink. Thrive Organic’s tasty menu is the reason so many vegetarians gravitate to this spot. The vegan nachos are a must. Oven baked blue corn chips with grain and nut chorizo, guacamole, black beans, home made pickled jalapenos and vegan cashew cheese. The sprouted grain pizza is also a hit, along with the vegan desserts. Thrive Organic is a great reminder that healthy food is delicious and good for you!

HELLO 123
From the owners of Kupfert and Kim, Hello 123 is a vegan restaurant and bar. The Avocado Smash tempeh burger and the No-eggs Benny are remarkable. Great vibe, good music, and great drink selection.
