Morelli’s Gourmet Ice Cream
Listen. Please believe the hype. Morelli’s Gourmet Ice Cream is definitely one of the best ice cream spots in Atlanta hands down. This quaint walk-up ice cream counter located in East Atlanta comes packed with a laid back vibe and delicious, fun and creative homemade ice cream flavors. Part-owner Clarissa Morelli is super hands-on and passionate about every scoop she serves up which makes you want to visit Morelli’s over and over again.
Be sure to follow Morelli’s on social media to see what daily flavors they’re whipping up! The Original Salted Caramel is a fan favorite. But you’ve got to try unheard of creations like Blueberry Corncake, Ginger Lavender and Strawberry Rosewater.
Location: 749 Moreland Ave SE, ST 102B Atlanta, GA 30316
Located in the infamous Ponce City Market, Honeysuckle Gelato serves up some of the best hand-crafted gelato scoops, cones, pints, ice cream sandwiches, and shakes. All flavors are inspired by its southern roots so you’ll definitely want to try the Brown Butter Crunch and Lemon Basil Blueberry.
Not only is the gelato delish. But you can also feel good about helping Honeysuckle Gelato support the Feeding America Network. They donate 5% of their company profits towards the organization and have donated over 200,000 meals to the Atlanta Community Food Bank!
Location: 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE Atlanta, GA 30308
Jake’s Ice Cream Atlanta
Jake’s Ice Cream located in the super cute Irwin Street Market is known for having approximately 200 flavors of ice cream to choose from. Even more impressive is that the majority of their ice creams are all-natural, hormone-free and made with pure cane sugar. They also have no shelf stabilizers or artificial flavors.
Of course, bad luck struck and their freezer broke down on the day that we visited! But let me tell you, Jake’s team refused to be defeated. They served us some of the best tasting ice creams we’ve ever had – especially the Lemon Pound Cake ice cream.
We’ll definitely be visiting again to try more unique flavors like Elton’s Good Karma and Red Velvet Cakescream.
Location: 660 Irwin Street Atlanta, Georgia 30312
Anyone from Atlanta will tell you that Zesto Atlanta is a staple for many in the city. For 70 years, parents and grandparents have flocked to Zesto to instill the tradition of eating here with their children and grandchildren. One reason that folks keep going back is the real ice cream. Zesto has always made real ice cream since day one. You won’t find any ice milk or other fake substitutes here.
The best part about Zesto is that you can also eat great food before grabbing your ice cream for dessert! The Steakburger with Pimento cheese sauce and jalapenos will have you running back for more!
Locations: With five locations throughout the city it’s easy to pop by and get some goodies! Just be prepared for long lines during rush hour periods.
Steel City Pops Atlanta
Okay, so technically Steel City Pops may be considered more of a popsicle shop vs. an ice cream spot. However, if you’re looking a healthier cold treat to cool down over the summer this is it. All of their pops are made with fresh fruit, organic cane sugar and are gluten-free. Plus you can customize your pop they way you like with chocolate, sauces, nuts and other toppings.
Hurry in if you want to try these yummy pops because Steel City Pops located at 312 Church Street, Decatur, Georgia may not be around much longer. The company recently announced that they’re looking to transfer their lease to a new owner. However, they’re still open for business until a new tenant is in place. Their locations in Alabama, Texas, and Kentucky will remain open.
