Located right next to Mumbai international airport, the Leela Mumbai Resort Hotel is an elegant five-star hotel. This luxurious hotel is only a five minute drive from the Airport.
This was my first stay at the Leela Mumbai Resort Hotel and it was awesome! From my early check-in, to the late check-out my stay was perfect. I arrived at the hotel at around 6am and was able to have a complimentary early check-in. After a very long flight from Toronto I was thrilled to shower and lay down right away.
The Leela Mumbai Resort Hotel was built in the 1980s, but its been very well-maintained. The décor in this hotel is beautiful. Lovely gardens that allow a breath of fresh air and a tranquil atmosphere surround the exterior. The interior is filled with Indian artefacts, huge fresh flower arrangements, and a golden cupola, I love fresh flowers so walking in an seeing this right away was pleasant. The scent as I entered the hotel was calming like nature.
The Leela Mumbai offers 392 air-conditioned rooms. 58 rooms are located on the top floors of the hotel in the Royal Club area, and are slightly larger. There are 30 suites. Each suite includes a dedicated Butler, as well as access to Royal Club Lounge and amenities.
My room was delightfully pleasing with a full view of their garden and pool. I walked in and the room smelled so good, it was very clean and tidy. The bed was extremely comfy to the point where I almost slept through my alarm clock. A pillow menu was in the room where we can choose your preference of pillows.
All 392 rooms have the five-star touches. Fine thread count linen, a pillow menu, robes, toiletries, in-room fridges, coffee/tea makers, minibar and a 32-inch Flat-screen television that comes with premium cable channels. The bathroom is beautiful. The marble-lined bathroom includes a separate bath and shower with twin massage showers. My favorite part of the room might just be the shower. I was able to adjust the massage showers to my desired height and the water pressure is amazing!
EXTRAS / FACILIITES
The facilities at the Leela Mumbai are excellent. The hotel is set on 11 acres, and is surrounded by tons of greenery. The Leela has a number of great services starting with a wonderful spa. The spa offers a wide range of massages, a beauty salon, steam rooms, and a fitness center.
One of the highlights for me is the extraordinary swimming pool. The outdoor swimming pool is surrounded by thick vegetation and adjacent to a waterfall. The pool are is the perfect place to relax and escape some of the madness of Mumbai, only a few meters away!
Guests staying on the upper floors have access to the Royal Club. A lounge space useful for breakfast, light meals, meetings and drinks.
The Leela’s restaurants are excellent. Breakfast at Citrus is a great experience. With a huge selection of food, there is something for everyone at the Citrus restaurant which overlooks the gardens and has popular, themed Sunday buffets.
One does not have to go far for fine-dining. The Indian restaurant Jamavar, which has a Michelin-starred sister restaurant in London’s Mayfair is delicious. Jamavar offers fantastic pan-Indian cooking.
There’s also the popular Chinese restaurant, the Great Wall. This restaurant’s décor has remained untouched since opening in 1987. It’s a cute restaurant with dark polished latticed wood, and offers classic Indo-Chinese cuisine.
For drinks, the Six Senses bar is the perfect place to unwind. Overlooking the pool this spot has the best views.
The hotel is only a mile from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport – dreamily convenient when you’re arriving from or taking a flight. However, it’s not only an airport stopover, but feels like an escape from the city. This is the perfect place to take a break from hectic urban life. If you’re planning to explore the center of Mumbai it’s not the most convenient location, but it is close to Airport Road Metro station so you can hop on the metro and get to the centre in less than 45 mins.
Excellent staff that went above and beyond to make you feel taken care of. A fabulous hotel altogether with a great deal of elegance and that makes you wish to stay longer. This will be my permanent hotel of choice going forward on my visits to Mumbai. Thank you Leela Mumbai for making my stay such a pleasure.
